Portrait in watercolor

This was done on Arches 300lb hot pressed watercolor paper with KOI watercolors and Isabey petite gris brushes. The initial ink sketch was done with Staedtler pigment liners, which dry fast and are water resistant. I like the Isabey brushes because they hold a lot of pigment and the spread is smooth and uniform.

Unfortunately I can’t scan a watercolor bigger than 11 x 17″ so my work is cropped, yet the original is 20×30″

This is a commission work and I spent about 3-4 hrs. Usually if I start a watercolor I have better results working fast
